I’m Lauren Monahan, a New England-based surface pattern designer. I create original patterns informed by historical reference, particularly 18th and 19th century textiles and decorative arts, distilled for contemporary interiors. My work emphasizes restraint and clarity, creating patterns that feel fresh and easy to live with, translating historical reference into forms that align with contemporary tastes.

I hold a BA in Art and Design Studies. My practice focuses on composition and repeat structure, developing repeat-ready artwork for wallpaper, textiles, and home goods. I build cohesive collections that function across multiple patterns and colorways, from statement designs to supporting coordinates.
